Marquez Auto Body shop, located at 310 K st. in Chula Vista, has been a welcoming customers since 1962. John Marquez, currently retired, was the first to deliver the high quality car repairs. After he retired Denise Marquez, his daughter, took over the Auto Shop. Denise has followed her father’s footsteps and provides free insurance, estimates, collision repair, and auto painting, for all makes and models of cars.
Technology was a step in improving the shop; one of the first things Denise Marquez did after taking over as general manager in 1980, was to install a computer system. The new and improved Auto Shop uses computers to write estimates, print detailed instructions for painters and body men, and even bar code tagging systems to track the right parts to the right cars.
The business has come a long way since John Marquez has quit painting for Fuller Ford and opened the shop with a partner. Now there are about 14 employees. “I pretty much have only quality people because I can’t afford to have problems with my customers’ cars,” Marquez said. “I only have quality work here, so I only have quality employees.” Marquez handles all of the work, from insurance to the body work in a reasonable amount of time.
The same quality and warm welcoming to customers is there, with a comfortable waiting area and greeting smiles. The same sign that John Marquez once went by is there too, to let customers know that since 1962, the Marquez Auto Shop is the best in the business:
